Out in the bright sunshine - but the water was cold. On the
Small River, floating crust was the method and again barbel were the target - but I couldn't resist stalking out a couple of chub and nearly a couple of small carp (unfortunately one came off at the net).
I wasn't in a rush - plenty of time for butterfly spotting and watching the kingfishers fishing. But when the fish you've been stalking sucks in that bread - time stops and nothing else exists. Nine barbel to
7lb 0oz, 2 chub and a beautiful little common. Followed by a bit of Deadpool!
¼lb,
7lb 0oz, 3½lb, 3lb, 1lb, (chub 3lb, 4lb 0oz), 4lb, (carp 6lb 4oz), 3½lb, 1½lb, 1½lb (5 hours)
Wish I had a river like that near me.
ReplyDeleteMe too - it’s a bit of a mission to get to this season - but it’ll keep dragging me back!
DeleteGreat session. Gotta love a river carp
ReplyDeleteSaw about 12 or 15 of them - no doubles but couldn’t resist a river carp off the top!!
DeleteI don't know what's up,but I can't buy a bite this season.3 overnight sessions for one fish, one crab and one houdini.last week I had 10 fish circling in front of me all wanted micro pellets but no hook baits..the lift is out at the station and someone is living in one of the swims.i take it your on holiday here now?
ReplyDeleteMost on bread, a few on meat where the swims were too tight. Always favour bread above other baits there. Perhaps I lucked in and found them on the feed - I’m sure you’ll bag up at some stage. Quite a few people living on the river now, more every year. Had to pop up for a scan - took the gear with me :-)
