Fishing Fix

To the river for my weekly fishing fix, water was too dirty for perch - but I don’t mind the odd barbel! But to annihilate my nearly 8 year old PB made a rather familiar trip this season into a trip of dreams!!

Tiny pinch of breadflake about the size of my thumbnail, freelined in about 18 inches of water did the trick - and what a cracking fight - before my new PB was in the net - 14lb 2oz - get in!

A distinctive barbel - one I've caught once before - but she's been sat at the buffet cart since then! Backed up with barbel of 8lb 15oz and one about 3½lb. Fantastic. No mile count today - I floated home!

  1. Even I'm on first names terms with that fish Brian, easily recognisable from your blog, a cracker !!

    1. Meatball! I’ve only caught her once before although I’ve seen her half a dozen times - she’s a proper wanderer. And piling on the weight - next year she might go over the magic number!

    1. Every time I’m on the train (back in the old days) I look at every little river and stream wondering what’s in there - they don’t need much water over their heads!

Cheers - fantastic fish - it’ll take some beating...

    1. Cheers George. It’s had that lump since at least 8lb or 9lb when a mate caught it - and named her Meatball - doesn’t seem to be doing any harm.

    3. Been watching the water levels online (not that I can get there), hope it’s fishable soon - won’t be long before we run out of season...

    3. I’m amazed by the growth rate (weighed her twice). I hope she doesn’t come out again for a year - then I hope it’s to me :-)
