A grey afternoon, but warm for the time of year - a bit of mooching about on the Small River - and I needed to use up the remainder of the tin of luncheon meat I opened on The Wye.

I was searching for chub, and I did spot a few in the clear water - but they were very spooky. The barbel wanted to play - six fish to 7lb 0oz - great stuff. And I'll be back for those chub...
Trying for chub and plagued by barbel - not usually that way round! Some great fish Brian.
ReplyDeleteWhen the chub get over 4 or 5 pound they are very shy - and the barbel beat them to the bait… There are worse problems to have..!
DeleteGood to bump into today Brian. I did manage a couple soon after you left . Sounds like you had a productive trip back to the station.
ReplyDeleteGood to chat - I’m always in a rush when I’m down there! Great stuff on the fish - any big ones? I ended up with five to 6-14, but all were over 5lb which is a better average size.
DeleteI would say both were around the 5-6 lb mark.
DeleteNice one. Keeping up the average… We just need to find the big girls now…
