Day 1: James was doing a Drennen video, did I want to come down?
Ummm. It's on a private stretch of the River Wye.
Hell yeah! Water conditions weren't great after the recent rain - but it was very interesting to see how it was filmed. Did I take a rod with me?
Of course! First up -
8lb 0oz - they were feeding in the flood.
Oi you London folk - Get off my land!
Next up -
8lb 15oz - the business end.
Quick Pez - taste of America (can't get Pibb Xtra here).
And
9lb 5oz - thanks for the invite James - a fantastic day!
Photographer turned poacher! Well done
ReplyDeleteHaving met the bailiff I can honestly say you wouldn’t want to get caught poaching there! But some lovely barbel - with permission.
DeleteNice !! Decent size barbel for the wye too 👍
ReplyDeleteCheers. Yeah, eights and nines - great to see - must be a double amongst them somewhere.
DeleteThe Wye can feel like a different river everyday during the autumn but, the barbel are usually feeding somewhere. Nice trio.
ReplyDeleteThere’s not a more beautiful river in the autumn in my opinion. And the river was well in the banks and falling - just a case of finding the fish on a new stretch.
DeleteGlad you got amongst them mate! let's see if the film is any good! fingers crossed. Well done on the fishing front.
ReplyDeleteReally looking forward to seeing the film, was very interesting watching you and the guys making it - and catching a few barbel myself while you guys were filming was a bonus!
DeleteYou didn't upstage James did you.? Are we going to be reading the drennan pike blog soon?
ReplyDeleteGot to keep James on his toes once in a while! No chance of the Drennan Pike Blog, but I did have a look at the prototype pike rods they’re launching next year - and I’m pretty impressed!
DeleteUpstaged for sure, quality for you and quantity for me, I guess that was the aim of the game from the outset, me wanting a double was just greedy :)
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting watching the film making process and I’m looking forward to watching the finished film. And great to be on a new stretch of The Wye - thanks for the invite - feel we’re getting closer to a double (I want one as well).
