A couple of very quick trips to the Small River, the second of which I spotted this beauty sat between two weedbeds - a proper fight - and a fantastic double at 10lb 12oz! They are turning their noses up at bread now - only luncheon meat will do - autumn is offically here!
And the sole... Not an 'eel... Guess I was in the right plaice...
With the weather finally turning and summer a distant memory I thought I'd look back on my Pre-Season targets:
- Take my Small River barbel total to over 1,500 fish - 1,591
- A new PB rudd (2lb+), roach (2lb+) or perch (3lb+) - 2lb 10oz
- A new river (Thames?) double figure barbel - Severn
- And a double figure pike from a new water
A very good season so far and ages yet to crack the roach and perch pb's. Nice sole too, was that a pb?
ReplyDeleteThe target was to beat one of those PBs this season - but yeah, plenty of time to have a crack at the roach & perch as well.
DeleteThe sole was just a bonus (and another item added to the random stuff caught from that river list).
If that was the meat I gave you, I am claiming half of that capture?!?! Great fish, well done.

ReplyDeleteThat new venue double figure Pike will come soon enough, then you shall have to think of a couple of winter targets, such as a 3lb+ Grayling, 7lb+ Chub and maybe a 25lb+ Pike....just saying.
They are very rare on there these days, so your heart misses a beat when you spot one!
