Closer To Home

After the trip to The Wye & Blackwater I thought I'd have a roll closer to home - was hoping to stalk fish but rain & flood water put pay to that - but eleven barbel to 7lb 0oz found the net - lovely!

I don't generally do tips & tricks, but these are quite handy - I normally carry a couple of snap on ledgers when rolling - for a quick change to static fishing - for those hard to tempt barbel!

  1. Top tip Brian but aren't you using them upside down?
    Yes, you are ;o)

    1. I’m going to have to admit to being a bit thick here - I don’t understand why they’re upside down!?

  2. The little hole is for the line to go through or, more usually, the swivel. The big one is for the lead, it being easier to undo and make a quick change without losing finger nails.

I'm not saying that you are wrong Brian, but I've never seen them demonstrated as being used your way - ever.
I use a different design so I'm no expert :o)

    1. The leads are permanently attached to the snaps, I just clip them on above the split shot without having to re-tie anything or even take the bait off.

    2. It's no big deal, use as you like. But..

    3. That's what I use, just take them apart at home and replace the swivel with a lead.

    4. I think what Dave is saying (and I do the same) I would have the lead on the bigger clip and the line on the smaller end. How do you stop the bigger clip loop from going over the shot?

    5. But then I'd have to open the small loop when fishing. The big loop won't go over an AA shot... New diagram coming up...
