Bent & Screwed

My afternoon session was cut short when the reel seized - it has had a bit of stick over the past few years! Back home I disassembled it, one tiny bent screw seems to be the only issue...

Very tiny - one pence piece for scale. Should be easy to fix - but where do I find a replacement screw? Probably take ages for Shimano to send a new one - perhaps I can find a one somewhere else?

I was searching for monster chub, and I may have found one - but I could't tempt her - I'll be back. But I did manage seven barbel, including these 2 sixes, before it was an early bath!

  1. Takes a brave man to take something apart like that. We look forward to the after pics too! the handle where the bail arm goes and the spool facing backwards!!
    Great fish too.

    1. It’ll probably be a hair dryer or a tin opener when I put it back together - we’ll have to wait to find out :-)

    1. Hi Dave, was going to send out a search party for you - you haven’t been commenting on the blogs for a while.

I’ll check it out, hopefully I’ve still got the box somewhere to find out the part number. Either that or I’ve got a box of knackered reels, see if I can find a screw that fits in one of those…

    2. I've been under a stone for a while mate, two shoulder operations this year (same arm), and I'm unable to do much in the way of fishing. Hopefully, a gentle session isn't too far off.

    3. Hope you’re feeling better, a few dace or perch to nurse you back to health and build up your ‘carp arm’. Take care and looking forward to your first blog post in quite a while…
