Sausage Roll

I was fishing for carp and eating sausage rolls (as you do) and I thought: I wonder if carp like sausage rolls?

Turns out they do! Not really a big surprise, after all it’s food that fits in their mouth. Wonder why they’re so finicky sometimes?

  1. I had one on the meat from a sausage roll in 1978. Nothing new in fishing :o)
I haven't used them since on account that I'd eat all my bait.

    1. Doubt there’s much they haven’t been caught on - like you say there’s nothing new in fishing!

Just trying to think of really unusual baits to try... Smarties... Pickled onion... Extra strong mints...

    2. Mashed potatoes, soup, hair gel...

I know they will eat licorice (well, the one's in my pond do) but have never tried it. I know, I know, you'll catch all sorts. But I reckon it could be a great bait.

    1. Next time I head up to the carp ponds I’m taking jelly babies... finally answer the age old question - what colour jelly babies do carp prefer?

    2. Rod Hutchinson found the small fish hoovered up the bright ones but the bigger fish rooted about later and found the dark ones.

But that will mean you sitting still for more than ten minutes so........

    3. I knew someone would have already tried it - I think I might have to give it a whirl anyway... Though I’m not sure about sitting still for more than 10 minutes - might try float fishing them!
