New Toys & Old Foes

New lures sent to me from the States - cheers Paulos! Any excuse for another crack at that big pike I lost over the net last week...

I arrived to find the water really dirty, perhaps a deadbait would have been better. But I still thrashed the water to a foam for three hours...

Just one missed take - she’s reminding me that she’s still there! That’s it for the pike this season - I’ll be back for her in autumn...

    1. They are getting called Sushi Lures from now on! When I was playing with them I was worried they would move more like a snake than a fish - but lovely action to them in the water, can’t wait to test them in some better conditions...

  2. Be careful if you get peckish. They certainly look good but I don't think you can beat a good Toby on the Wye ;o)

  3. That’s what keeps you going back! I was hoping for one last go on the wye tomorrow but unfortunately it’s gonna be too high.. shame as it looks like it would only need a few more days to fine down. Roll on October!

    1. Yeah, I’ll be chasing her down in autumn. I’ve been watching The Wye levels - been flooded out most of the winter, worst conditions I can remember - it’ll be perfect next week, always is!!

    2. Yes certainly the toughest winter I’ve experienced river level wise. Probably put in the most effort this year in trying to fish it but only managed 9 Wye trips between November and February for 13 fish. Only 1 blank but never more than 2 in a day - I think the high levels prevented them from ever staying in one place and shoaling up with the baitfish as they sometimes do.

    3. Nothing had chance to settle all winter - so 13 pike in those conditions isn’t a bad return. Hopefully we’ll get better conditions next season.
