Whatever was putting the fish off a few days ago has washed through. An afternoon wander and five barbel found the net - including the
7lb 2oz very distinctive
'ghost barbel' (above) and an
11lb 0oz double (below). Oh, and another double spotted for next time...
The eleven was sat with her twin - there couldn't have been more than an ounce or two difference between them. Both rushed the rolled bread, this one beating the other to it - a recapture of my September double - but I know there is at least one more there...
cracking stuff!! the Ghost must be a bit early for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteCheers. Would have been pretty perfect to catch her on Halloween - but great to see. She really stood out in the clear water, can’t recall spotting her before - I know they do change colour but haven’t seen one this light in that river.
DeleteAm planning a trip down late November. That will be a real bonus Barbel
ReplyDeleteThey’re in there, just a lot of walking about with Polaroid’s looking for them - and loads of small barbel to keep us occupied while searching for them!
DeleteNice one Brian, some good fish to go at for the winter! Managed a few trips to the wye this weekend and finally bagged a 20 so pretty chuffed with that!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Magnificent Wye pike - I’ll bet you’re chuffed!! How big? Cause they’re nowhere near max size yet - oh, and where can I see a photo?
DeleteOnly just over 20, 20-08. I'll drop you a message on facebook perhaps?
DeleteCheers - she is a beauty - cracking stuff!
DeleteExcellent sport and its finally starting to throw up some of the bigger specimens.
ReplyDeleteStarting to find some - where have they been hiding? And I’d like to see the other twin on the bank soon!
