On This Day 1995

A quarter of a century ago today...
Paulos, my younger brother, with a 25lb 10oz River Wye pike - one we've both been trying to top for 25 years. I feel really old now.

    1. A beautiful pike, sadly I wasn’t there to see it in the flesh. But holding the Roberts pike record for 25 years is long enough - I’ve got to try and beat it!!!

  2. That's the joy of old photo's, they bring it all back and underline how far you have gone. 25 years ago I was relatively young and fit.... boy, do I feel old. Cracking fish though.

    1. Twenty five years ago I was 19 - I wouldn’t recognise the old geezer on this blog. But I think I’d be glad he was still fishing...

    1. Paulos just messaged me to tell you not to give the peg away - now everyone will be trying to catch it!! :-)

    1. I was fishing a little pond a few years ago (won’t mention the name as you’re not allowed to fish there) an old guy came over and told me there was a monster pike in there. Sparked my interest “yeah, it was 18 pounds and that was over 40 years ago, god knows how big it is by now”.

  5. Cracking fish! Had a few trips to the wye lately, tough going though generally with a few fish out to low doubles only. I was hoping to fish a lot over xmas though looks like the latest rain will put a stop to that!

    1. I’d settle for a few low doubles, in fact I’d settle for just one low double at the moment - so nice one. Seen the river is rising like mad, but if falls back quickly so fingers crossed. Good luck and keep me informed - cheers.
