A proper January barbel! I've been watching this fish for nearly 2 weeks before I managed to get her to take a bait, but a new PB - so time well spent!

And Dan added this really ugly 4lb 6oz fish (check out the growths on his head and tail). Taking Dan to over 100lb of barbel this season, not bad for a trout fisherman... Not a bad day all round!
Beautiful fish fellers!! Good job on the PB, always an amazing feeling. Better watch that Dan though, he's doing the 'carp' pose again!!

Don't put your fingers in front of the fish.
DeleteStop talking.
Look at the camera.
If I can get him to do any two of the list above I press the shutter!
Well done Brian, what a fish. Congrat's mate. Must feel nice, not just beating the pb but stalking the fish for a while before finally landing it. how big did it go?
ReplyDeleteFeels great now it's landed, a few sessions watching it sniff the bait ranged from frustrating to infuriating!
DeleteMade a promise to some of the locals a couple of years ago to not blatantly publish the weight if I got one over a certain size, at the time an empty promise as I didn't think I'd get one - but this one just chipped over that weight...
Really enjoy blogging but I don't want to piss anyone off.
To be honest, who cares. It's a cracker Brian and that's all that matters. Now you just have to try and catch one on a lure!
DeleteGoing to try and get one on a fly in the summer.
DeleteWe're looking forward to the closed season! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy?
DeleteI take it by the ;) you're a CUNT and fish in )the close season. Why would you wait otherwise?

DeleteI took that to mean the barbel are waiting for the closed season so the me and Dan aren't trying to catch them. (But we'll still be watching them :)
DeleteWell in Brian, an impressive specimen and will take some beating as well, persistence always pays! I've convinced myself of that over the years.
ReplyDeleteCheers James. Been over a month since I last caught something that pulled back, so delighted!
