Another short evening session... And Darren did it again... Not inviting him next time! Only joking, he's on a roll at the moment - 6lb 14oz - top fishing!!

    As a lot of anglers do, we guess the weight before weighing the fish. In this case Darren guessed 6-14, I said you're right on the money, 6-14, and the scales said the same. Getting quite good at this.

    Dan said 6-8... Amateur!

    Well done Darren. Brian, with the big barbel you caught a few weeks ago under your belt this must be karma's way of telling you to go pike fishing instead!!!

      I'm watching the water levels and Roger is sending me catch reports (nobody is catching anything!). If we can get some steady conditions I'll be straight down there!

    Sounds like it's been a terrible year for river fishing. Maybe sitting it out in a few pegs that have produced in the past with some big deadbeats might encourage a few fish to feed.

      I was thinking the other way round. Prebaiting with a bunch of small deadbaits over a week or two... Trying to attract the pike to specific area. But I'm not close enough to a pike river to do that.

      But if anyone is reading this with a river on their doorstep I'd give it a go!
