Cold. Minus 6. Time to don the sloth hat and head back to the River Rother searching for my new river double pike. Dawn 'til dark, me & James chucked deadbaits and lures into every likely looking slack...
Just one run between us. Not quite the monster that tempted us out into the cold. Still, when that pike float bobs it could signal a two or a twenty-two! This time it was the former - next time Mrs Pike...

Its got to be a two before its a twenty-two! well done for braving the minus 6.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are twenties and future twenties (although I’m pretty sure this was a male). Going to be a warmer week this week - hopefully get out and try again…
DeleteNice to be out piking on mornings like that!
ReplyDeleteIt really is - nowhere I’d rather be - and The Rother has form for big pike, but it didn’t happen this time - might get another day there before the season ends…
DeleteTough cookie the Rother but sure we will get amongst them at some point! We've got to get back down and see if a big girl finally slips up.
ReplyDeleteLooking at reports from the last few years it does throw up a few twenties at the end of winter - just got to find one. Perhaps try when it’s not brass monkeys!!
