This weekend was supposed to be an epic four day mission on The Wye & Severn with James - searching for double figure barbel... But to be honest I think it would probably have killed me!
So we've postponed it for a month. James has headed to Yorkshire on his Barbel Quest - so expect a report soon. And I had a gently walk down the river - where six barbel, 2 chub & a crab found a bait.

Edit: The first part of James' rather splendid Yorkshire adventure is here. But there is far more to follow - once James gets his head around it - stay tuned! |
A crab? If cancer wasn't bad enough you're catching crabs?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, well done on listening to your body.
It’s been a long time since I caught a Chinese Mitten Crab - but I don’t use luncheon meat very often these days - so still a few in there.
DeleteMe and James egg each other on - it would have been a mission, not a relaxing few days fishing - so another month of exercise and diet… (Plus the pike will be out to play).
Jungle drums are drumming, James has caught a Big’un
DeleteMessenger has been lighting up!
DeleteNo Crab pic? I may have to unfollow this blog now?!?! T minus one month.......
ReplyDeleteI took 2 photos, unfortunately neither came out and I chucked him back before I got my fingers crushed!!
DeleteGood call Brian, wait for the pike to join the party! I'll be back end of next month also (and in a few weekends) so hopefully find some fish. You probably have some venues already lined up on the Severn but drop me a message if you like, a couple of spots I know generally come good on the big barbel in the Autumn
ReplyDeleteHoping to be back to somewhere near fitness but then. Only a few days until Pike Time and I’m absolutely unprepared - no tickets, no research and I’d better make some traces!!
DeleteNever fished the Severn - I’ll message you for a few tips closer to the trip - I think I will need all the help I can get - Thank you
Fingers crossed - take it easy! I'm similar, got an early date on chew to prepare for also and trying to get stuff together!
DeleteCertainly - no problem
Chew - very exciting, very best of luck and obviously let me know how you get on!
DeleteCheers
