Ninja?

Been a while since I've been fishing - I pushed myself a bit too hard and ended up in hospital. A very boring week on the ward and I have a feeding tube stuck up my nose for a few more weeks!

Feeling better I headed to the Small River to test my stamina - so lucky to have the river so close. I really tried to take it easy but soon reverted to my old self - rushing, jumping, climbing - idiot!

Thirteen barbel landed to 6lb 9oz, a cracking afternoon - but it really was a bit much - I was absolutely shattered! Think I need to try sitting still by a pond next time - until my strength returns...

And after a bit of a lull in the action, James is back on his Double Barbel Quest - old news now, but double number 14 of 40 is here.

  1. Sounds like time to take it a bit easier Brian which I know for you doesn't really work :) ever watched Breaking Bad ? Game of Thrones ? some series to binge watch maybe ? Bet it was nice to be back outside though doing what you do best !!

    1. Loved Breaking Bad (and Better Call Saul) but don’t really watch much TV - just F1 and Rick & Morty these days. Was great to be back on the water - just need to sit still and fish - perhaps a tench or a carp - other people manage it!!

  2. I've had ME Brian, that pales into insignificance when compared to cancer but trust me, some things you just cannot rush. Learn to listen to your body, nudge the boundaries now and then but listen.
Anyway, Netflix will get you through a week or two and then there's Ren and Stimpy to catch up with - Joy.
Anything to avoid a nose tube, had one once - yuk.

    1. I completely lack patience - including with my health. I’m on a nutrition and exercise routine - but it’s all a bit slow. Really need a few lazy fishing trips while I get my strength back! Have decided to start watching Misfits on Netflix, looks like 5 seasons - that’ll kill 50 hours…

    1. Can’t stay off the bank for long - that’s for sure. If a small river will knacker me out, a big river might just finish me off! I’m in!!

    2. You'll be fine, I can catch all the fish if it helps!

  4. Great to see you back on the bank, but definitely listen to your body so you rest and recover too! Good job the barbel don't have nasal feeding tubes, not sure we would be able to catch them then!?!

    1. Great to be back on the bank - thanks. It’s very easy to get carried away chasing barbel about in clear water - must try and take it easy! Barbel are far too greedy - there would still be some way of catching them!!
