Felina

The last day of the season, one I've found in past years to hold too much pressure - get out early, mustn't blank, last trip for three months...

This year I opted out of the pressure, I've had the final week off work and filled my boots with pike, perch and barbel. My hard earned North London pike yesterday was a great fish to end a cracking season. And after all, it's not 3 months it's about three weeks before I start my summer campaign.

So today after a lie-in and a nice breakfast I hit the local river for a few hours - just to cast a line and chew the fat with old friends and some new ones, my season was already in the bag.

A lovely barbel to end on was just a bonus. Happy days!

  1. Nice way to end the season! I didn't manage to get back on the wye - had a look at the levels last night and it was rising too fast for my liking, though looking now i wish I had made the trip! I did have an hour or so on my local severn however, which was rising fast and freezing cold but did manage a nice upper single on a lure so all was not lost! Cheers

    1. Cheers Jack. Was a great last week, wish I'd managed a few more trips back to the Wye over winter though. It's always nice to end on a fish, so nice one with the last day pike. See you on the riverbank later in the year.

  2. Cheers, it's always hard getting the conditions right when not living on the Wye's doorstep. I'm off to Australia for a year studying in late July so unfortunately I'll have to miss a whole piking season - I'll have to try and get down as much as I can in the summer before I go though!

    1. Yeah, that river is so changeable. Australia though, fill your boots with barracuda and sharks, you'll barely miss the pike! :)
