Shooting James 2

Day 2: James & the camera crew slept in bivvies - I crashed out in the car - was up before dawn, while James was in hair & make up (not really, they were waiting for enough light) - I headed onto The Wye...

Great start - 8lb 13oz - luncheon meat accounting for all the fish.

Followed by - 9lb 7oz - rolled or very light ledger.

Surviving trespassers will be shot again.

Well over time now - 7lb 7oz - as the sun came out.

And 5lb 7oz - before hacking it back to London.

  1. Tell us the bit about where you tracked James down and shot him ;o)

Wye barbel in the autumn are just the best.

    1. Poor lad already had two people shooting him! In fact I did really feel for him as he had to do the talking bits away from the river - while I was in his eye-line fishing!

We’ll have to see how The Wye barbel fishing goes over winter - haven’t seen any signs of pike to chuck a bait at!

    2. it gets tough over the winter but, a mild October is always a bonus.

    3. Think my winter Wye pike trips might also include a barbel ‘sleeper’ rod this year - haven’t seen any signs of pike hitting the bait fish while I’ve been on the river. It’ll get abandoned when the pike are back in numbers…

    1. Worryingly I didn’t see any signs of pike on The Wye over the last two days or the 2 days I fished in the summer - although there are plenty of bait fish. Have you seen any over the summer?

Good luck with the piking - let me know how you get on Saturday. And I hope you bag one of the Chew big girls!

    2. I've hardly fished it over the summer to be honest, but heard of some decent fish being caught in the past week already so that's promising.

      Cheers! Will let you know!

    3. Good news fish are being caught, I’d still give it a try but it’s nice to know there are still a few there - and we’re not wasting our time. I’ll have a search through the FB groups.

      Look forward to your report…

    1. There was lots of cool stuff; especially the drone. But lots of fannying about - I’d rather just go fishing if I’m honest.

  4. T'was good fun, I shall have to bring my A-game next time, rather than in holiday mode, next time I shall defeat you!!!!! hahaha

Maybe you can have the numbers and I'll grab a couple of better ones, preferably one over 10lb, that would be epic!!

    1. Makes a change, you with the numbers - me with the better fish… Probably easier without the cameras watching - no pressure to catch on demand. That ten pounder is in there waiting…
