The River Wye is back within it’s banks - just! But it has been pouring with rain all day, and a lot more is forecast. Might take a minor miracle for it to be fishable this week - but fingers crossed!

ReplyDeleteIt’s gradually receding (currently +2.11) but the wet weather is threatening to top it up. Hopefully you’ll get a day or two before Jan 5th, but looking unlikely it’s going to happen this week..!
DeleteI’ll be down tomorrow for a go - just about fishable now by my standards! Looks to be dropping nicely now for next week so I’ll be on the bank a fair bit
DeleteIt crossed the pike-line earlier (for me that’s +1.7) still high but fishable. So popped down for a couple of hours and bagged a double earlier. Be back down tomorrow as it’s my last chance this year... Probably see you on the riverbank...

Delete2 freezing nights,1 freezing day.i was in bits and kept hiding in the bivvy.,but toughed it out.1 bite,1 fish,but 15-12 of barbel was my reward.new pb by a pound.jesus,what does a 16,17,18,19,20 look like or go like?i think about 5 fish were caught while i was there.first night i saw 2 fishing opposite and 3 downstream.2nd night 3 above me in peg 10,and 3 below and 5 opposite.20 fish came out of peg 14 on boxing day.apparently it was unfishable for most of dec and had only just gone down.about 10 feet up from my trip in sept.glad you got your pike!there's a few in the trent,i saw 1 guy lobbing deads out behind a bush near the top car park.tight lines for 2020!
ReplyDeleteAll sounds worth it for a PB, and a fifteen is fantastic! I’ve never even seen a 13. Sounds like it’s tough going though, might wait for some better conditions before venturing back for my round two. Anyway, congratulations on the PB, and tight lines to you in 2020!
