Couple of hours chucking a lure about on Boxing Day - walking off a massive (and fab) Christmas lunch. And a pike! Cracking fight and my old friend, 12lb 2oz (R) - but it's tough going - so very welcome!!
A bit worrying for the pike population; a recapture with so few pike caught. But two other follows (hard to see in the dirty water, may have been more), one smaller, one slightly larger than the pike landed.
Records: Lure: White Beetle Spin (½ oz) Height: 1.3 (falling) Weather: Mild/Misty (8°) |
The faithful spinner bait, an excellent lure. I have also done well with red or orange and gold spoons ;o)
ReplyDeleteMy go-to colours are green or black - but the water was dirty and thought they’d see the white one better. They do love a Beetle Spin!
DeleteWell done captain, looks as if the Wye is going to mistreat you again, maybe their is one special fish lurking around that may just turn your season on its head?
ReplyDeleteIt is starting to look like I’m fishing for that one special fish to save the season - got 10 weeks left to turn it around - if I could just drop on a few Wye pike…
DeleteGotta love a festive fish. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCheers, a lot of hours going in to every pike this season - so got to enjoy the successes!
