November Skunk
Sometimes you have a run of good fortune in fishing - and that certainly wasn't the case in November! Blank after blank after blank, a lot of time on the river without a run on the pike gear.
Eventually managed a little jack on a lure during Storm Bert - and after not seeing a fish for weeks it was worth getting soaked for!! Let's hope the December pike are more forthcoming - fingers crossed!
Roger had a much better month - despite hardly fishing - managing his first six pound plus Wye chub. A quest that has taken decades was rewarded with a 6lb 1½oz beast - and he is rightly chuffed - nice one!

I know that we anglers moan about the conditions but November has been bloody awful.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think I can completely blame the conditions, plenty of time on the water in what seemed like ideal pike conditions. But talking to other anglers there seems to be so few pike about. Pollution? Otters? Don’t know, but something is wrong!
DeleteThe pike must know your spots too and keeping clear! That is a great chub, well done Roger, am hoping for a six this winter too.
ReplyDeleteIf there are any pike! Still searching!! Yeah, Roger spent a long time after that chub - what a cracking fish - he’s now got his sights set on a seven!
DeleteLaverly stuff mate, yes the conditions haven't been great but over the recent years it's been so up and down.
ReplyDeletePass on my congrats to Rog', that's a proper Wye Skelly.
At least I was able to get on the river - I hope it’s not going to be another winter of floods. Congratulations passed on!
DeleteIt certainly looks like it is, I had fishing planned this weekend and monday, not happening now, temps here plummeted, crazy weather, the fence is stilllllll standing strong and we had winds monitored at Biggin Hill Airfield of 78mph!
DeleteThe force of the gusts hitting the house you could feel it whilst I was sat on the crapper.
Yeah another winter of crap conditions for fishing!
DeleteHouse shook while you were in the crapper - shocker!!
