Back to the Farm Pond to see if I could find another big eel. But while I was waiting for the light to fade a bit of floating crust - a few rudd and a beautiful fully scaled mirror carp - my first fully scaled!
As the darkness crept in - the main event. To be honest the rudd were nailing every bait I tried. But two perch and a fantastic 2lb 10oz eel found the net. Going to try chunks of fresh fish next time...
Oh, and sort out my camera so I can take decent photos in the dark...

Cracking fully scaled, they never fail to please. I've seen eels taking floating crusts, and we are talking three pounds plus. Alas, too many tench for them to get there first.
ReplyDeleteGreat wildlife shots.
Was a beautiful mirror and in mint condition.
DeleteThinking about it; I’ve seen eels taking flies off the surface (imagine getting one on a dry fly!?). The little rudd were a pain - smashing the worms, prawns and luncheon meat - hopefully a fish section will remain intact long enough to find the eels.
First baby elephant of the year - still looking for a green one..!
