Autumn is here - though you wouldn't believe it. Bright sunshine and low, clear rivers. Far from ideal conditions for pike - but an 18lb 9oz beauty eventually slipped up (lean fish, definitely be a twenty in February). Cracking fight and a great start to the season.
Excellent looking Pike, think you are going to have a good season for them this time around.
ReplyDeleteStunner to open The Wye pike season. Fingers crossed for a good pike season - and minimal flooding.
DeleteWe need a good push through for a few weeks to remove all the built up crud, but come early December I want it to be steady and not too much of any one thing.
DeleteOne big flood, get it over with in a week - then just a little top up once in a while. Sorted.
DeleteYou don't want much then? This season has been quite short on answering wishes. But that is a cracking pike to start with.
DeleteChances are it will flood. But no harm wishing for the best - and a few more pike like this one :-)
DeleteI think we all know what is going to happen, feast or famine seems to be the winter standard nowadays.
DeleteThe new normal, and has been for the last 10 years or so. But doesn't stop us dreaming of those perfect winter mornings...

Great looking pike.
ReplyDeleteBeauty, and big for her weight. Hopefully more to come...
DeleteGreat start, well done 👏
ReplyDeleteCheers, a brilliant start - hopefully get a few more Wye pike this season (have struggled the last few years).
