Lugging (2)

Couple of early morning hours exploring more of The Lugg, and around every bend lurks another fantastic looking swim. Clearer water today and although I didn't spot any barbel, I did spot some gudgeon - noted.

Took the lure gear, bit of a chuck about as I wandered to see if I could find some more perch. Storm Curl Tail and braid this time - far easier to feel the bites - would struggle to go back to mono.

Well 2 hours turned into five - and 41 perch (plus a bonus chub) landed. Hectic morning. No big perch but I did loose one getting on for 2lb - like I need an excuse to go back. Now, more perch or gudgeon next?

  1. It's amazing to see how sedate the Lugg is, and in around 2-3 weeks it will be a raging torrent strong enough to sweep a HGV downstream!

Well done on the wasps :)

    1. In a few weeks all the rivers will be a raging torrent - make hay while the sun is still shining.

  2. A pig in poo springs to mind. But, as James says, you will be amazed at the beast that lies within. And I'm not talking about the gudgeon 🙂

    1. A small river with predators I can lure fish - you're right as happy as a pig in sh*t. And no lures lost yet (although the perch did destroy one). Just need to land a pike to make it perfect!
