Beautiful frosty morning, the kind of morning that makes you glad you're mad enough to go out in it & back to pit two. A few hours later without a touch, I thought I'd have a chuck in pit one - what's the worse that could happen? Unlikely to catch that same pretty pike again...

Yup. She was as happy to see me as I was to see her! A run is always exciting - but I'd rather catch a new jack than recapture a double! So even though I'm sure there are many more pike here, and I know there's a bigger one - that's the last trip to The Pits this season.

Have a ticket for a new river & pond starting tomorrow anyway...
Did you sign-up for the new venue in your own blood? Now that's dedication.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on it.
Yeah, it’s getting harder & harder to get a new ticket these days! I know the new venues contain zander - but the pike potential is pretty unknown - what’s left of my fingers are crossed…
DeleteNice one Brian !! make sure you take some hand sanitizer with you !! HNY anyway
ReplyDeleteCheers Mick. I do carry a mini first aid kit - as I do stick my hands in their mouths from time to time!!?! HNY and tight lines.
DeleteWell deserved, well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I probably did deserve a cut hand getting too close to those teeth!
DeleteHappy new year. Zander are my quarry this year too. God luck for your fishing in 2026.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year & tight lines for 2026. Not going to target the zander this season - but one might find the pike gear - with a bit of luck. Look forward to reading more on your zander quest…
