November has been a real slog, it seems to be the same for me every year - but the last cast of the day into a rapidly rising Wye made it all worth while. After a few follows and a few half-hearted nips - a big pike finally slammed my Bulldog lure.
Made a proper fight of it in the fast water before I slipped the net under something I've been chasing for 40+ years - a lure caught Wye twenty! Scales settled on 22lb 2oz - f**king brilliant! Camera wouldn't play, but phone saved the day. Over-da-moon!!!!!
Brian, that's a magnificent Pike mate - congratulations.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dylan, it’s the reason we keep heading back out into the cold. So lucky to occasionally see these monsters..!
DeleteA rising river? should have been after the barbel mate ;o)
ReplyDeleteA spanking pike Brian, the warm glow will last you all winter.
Might go out and see if I can find a Wye double barbel this afternoon. A lovely pike though - and a great way to catch her - makes up for some pretty dismal November fishing.
DeleteBeauty!
ReplyDeleteCheers. Worth all that effort!
DeleteCongrats Brian. Very well deserved! I didn't wet a line in November, roll on December and fishing between the festivities!
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam. November was tough going (although turned out awesome), let’s hope December is a bit easier.
DeleteA stunner 😎 nice one Brian !!
ReplyDeleteCheers. Just realised she christened my new lure rod - might be a while until I beat it!

ReplyDeleteHeart in mouth stuff - but fantastic when she found the net!
DeleteAbsolute corker
ReplyDeleteThanks, certainly the fish of the season (so far).
DeleteWorth waiting all those years, hopefully you don't have to wait another 40 aye!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done geeza!
Just waiting for the water to drop - and I’ll start trying again… :-) Cheers!
