Couple of early morning hours exploring more of The Lugg, and around every bend lurks another fantastic looking swim. Clearer water today and although I didn't spot any barbel, I did spot some gudgeon - noted.

Took the lure gear, bit of a chuck about as I wandered to see if I could find some more perch. Storm Curl Tail and braid this time - far easier to feel the bites - would struggle to go back to mono.

Well 2 hours turned into five - and 41 perch (plus a bonus chub) landed. Hectic morning. No big perch but I did loose one getting on for 2lb - like I need an excuse to go back. Now, more perch or gudgeon next?
It's amazing to see how sedate the Lugg is, and in around 2-3 weeks it will be a raging torrent strong enough to sweep a HGV downstream!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the wasps :)
In a few weeks all the rivers will be a raging torrent - make hay while the sun is still shining.
DeleteA pig in poo springs to mind. But, as James says, you will be amazed at the beast that lies within. And I'm not talking about the gudgeon 🙂
ReplyDeleteA small river with predators I can lure fish - you're right as happy as a pig in sh*t. And no lures lost yet (although the perch did destroy one). Just need to land a pike to make it perfect!
DeleteTake the opportunity! Well done that man.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, could happily spend all day catching them.
