The Runs

Less than idea conditions - it rose five foot while I fished, and it was cold water. But deadbaiting mid-river, moving closer into the slacks as the river grew produced five runs...

Two missed, one lost fish (didn't feel big) and two pike on the bank, including the first double of the season at 11lb 6oz. Float-ledgered or paternoster sardines did the trick.

Been a very long time since I've had five runs in a day on The Wye - not since I ate that dodgy scotch egg!

    1. Thanks Dylan. Good luck with your double before 13th October - 8 days, plenty of time…

  2. A bit better than last year Brian. Let's face it, there aren't many that continue to pike fish whist a river grows by five feet. Just thin of the barbel you could have caught ;o)

    1. A bit single minded, had the barbel gear in the car as well. I'd prefer 2 pike to 20 barbel any day!
