Another closed season has nearly dragged past, the Orange Tip butterflies have come and gone, and once again I didn't wet a line. But after last season I needed a break from the fish (and the blogs).
After much thought I have decided to risk another season on The Wye. I have expanded my stomping grounds, gaining more access both upstream & down - plus a few ponds and gravel pits near the river.
So the summer will be spent exploring the new water (might do a mini species hunt), with a view to getting a few more pike on the bank when the weather turns. Season target: 50 pike (Wye & surrounding water).
Tight lines bloggers - look forward to reading about your adventures...

Sounds great Brian, I've just not been interested in doing much fishing in the closed season, just not had the enthusiasm !! not long now thankfully !!
ReplyDeleteLess than a week - needed a break but looking forward to getting back on the riverbank! Bring it on…
DeleteI guess the barbel have spawned early and the river should kick off to a good start. I'm in no rush but have a ticket for the Red Lion after a couple of years break.
ReplyDeleteThink they’ve spawned - just need a bit of water in the river - really needs a good wash through. Look forward to your reports from the river - tight lines…
DeleteIs that fishing license card a mock up didn’t think they issued them anymore and I wouldn’t hold your breath about thinking the barbel have spawned around my neck of the woods I haven’t seen the chub spawning yet
ReplyDeleteYes - I always put a photo of the licence on here pre-season, since they stopped issuing them I’ve just mocked one up.
DeleteNature seems ahead of itself - probably due to the warm start to the year - the butterflies and beetles are out early and pretty sure the fish have spawned here.
Just need a bit of water in the rivers…
We're going paperless, but you can have an A4 sheet using 20 times the paper it would take to print one like we used to.crazy.
DeleteThey were a nice thing to own, collected all of mine.
DeleteA break is often needed, looking forward to what lies a head. Good luck Brian.
ReplyDeleteAnd looks like there is a bit of much needed water in the rivers for the opening week. Tight lines…
DeleteGood luck tomorrow mate, tight lines.
ReplyDeleteAnd you (even though 'tomorrow' has already happened and we know what each other caught).
DeleteP.S. Check your boat before you drag it half way across the country.
