Half the battle is spotting the bigger barbel - this is one I spotted on the last trip to the river - and I convinced her to take a bait today. At 7lb 3oz it's a step in the right direction - still searching for a double!
Cracking dragon fly thingy. Barbel are like unicorns my way (like cod too), but some small uns are shownig up on the Wensum again. EA won't stock them anymore as "non-native" to region.
cracker!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours in the sunshine - the reason I don’t fish for them in the dark!

ReplyDeleteSeem to spend more and more fishing-time photographing bugs these days! Good news that there are small uns turning up - they’ll grow!
DeleteLufferly one mate! that double is not far away.
ReplyDeletePS, I've had that old girl a couple times over the years, anywhere between 7.4 and 8lbs, nice to see her still around and in fine fettle.
I’d like to spot a double - give me something to aim at - know they’re there - just well hidden at the moment.
DeleteYeah, I’ve had that barbel a couple of times before - very distinctive with that chlorine burn over the eye.
