Wye: Into The Mist

It hasn’t been easy, we’ve put the hours in and the week has flown by. I’m going to finish typing this, get out of my nice warm bed, give Paulos a shout and we’ll wander out into the cold for one last session (this season) - is there a twenty out there waiting for us?

A couple from yesterday, 18lb 3oz, wobbled smelt. (+1.0)

And 18lb 6oz, ledgered smelt. Full week report to follow...

    1. We didn’t manage a twenty, but there’s always next time - it’ll keep us coming back!

Good luck if you’re back this weekend - let us know how you get on.

    2. Still, nice to get a few nice wye fish! I am indeed, currently on the train home trying to work out a plan of attack for tomorrow! Will let you know how I do.

    3. Think tomorrow is your day, temperature isn’t going to drop too much tonight - and gale force winds on Sunday!

    4. Well it was slow going today, just a couple of jacks to deadbaits. I should’ve wobbled in hindsight, I like a bit more water on for fishing dead’s but fancied my chances for a big one. Always next time!

    5. A couple of jacks is better than a blank, and like you said, always next time. Looks too rough to go out today (Sunday) and a lot of rain forecast isn’t good news - but I’m hoping to get another trip in before the season ends.

Out of interest are you fishing the same sections as me or are you further upstream?

  3. Certainly does - nice to be on the bank! Yep no fishing for me today, but likewise, I hope to get at least another trip in at the end of the month.

I was on the ‘other’ club stretch yesterday - looks like you had a few from there earlier in the week. Been fishing it a bit more this winter but none of my banker pegs produced yesterday.

    1. Our banker pegs didn’t produce all week, just one jack where we’ve found numerous pike in previous seasons. Was a struggle to find pike and even the baitfish shoals - but can’t have it too easy!
