Crusian Parp

Summer is coming, so yesterday afternoon a quick trip to the local pond was in order. It's still a bit cold but one bite - one fish. A parp, not the biggest parp I've ever had but a very rare crusian parp, 1lb 19oz - great stuff! Float fished strawberry and mint flavoured live-bait did the trick.

  2. I don't know, Brian. I think there may be a bit of Crown boldfish in it and therefore something of a hybrid? True crusian parp are much taller in the tale, I think...

    1. Crap, if it was a true crucian parp it would be a real monster. I believe the UK record is 1lb 32oz...

    1. Parp fishing? Unfortunately the parp season has ended now - it's only 1 day a year.

    1. It's well on its way to being viewed 100,000 times now, not going to bother to continue to track it but hopefully it will float around the web in future years - like the piglet-carp. Wonder how long the Pike Blog tag will last?

    1. Without a bit of celebrity endorsement it would have only been seen by a few hundred people. And anyway Matt Hayes liked my post :)

Yeah, need to get out more... Summer is coming...
